We think the best thing you can do to learn more about the Christian faith is not to read more websites or books or listen to human opinions. We think you should read God’s book, the Bible, and decide for yourself. While you read it, pray that God would guide you to truth.

Here are some things that might be helpful to know before reading the Bible:
  • Christians don’t just read the gospel, they also read the books of Moses, the psalms and the writings of other prophets. All of these are important and we don’t think one part is more important than another.
  • We call the gospel and the writings of Jesus’ first disciples the New Testament, and the books of Moses and other writings from before the birth of Jesus the Old Testament. Together, these two parts make up the Bible.
  • The Bible includes many different kinds of writing. The books were revealed over thousands of years, from Moses to Jesus. Some seem more like stories, while others are more historical. Some parts are poetic while others read like letters to a friend. The Bible’s ‘style’ is very different from the Qur’an.
  • It’s a BIG book! The New Testament alone is about as long as the Qur’an. The Old Testament is much longer.
  • If you want to learn about Jesus, his life, and what it means to follow and obey his teachings, the very beginning of the New Testament is a good place to start.
  • A good online resource to read the Bible is found at Bible.com
